FOSTER
There
are important traits foster families must have:
- Patience and Time as
the dog moves from "street life" to "home
life." The dogs need to learn boundaries and they need to meet prospective adopters at Lucky Mutt Meet and Greets and events
- Willingness to learn about dog training, dog behavior, dog
nutrition, dog play, incorporating a new dog with other dogs or pets and pack control.
- Commitment to
finding the very best match for their foster mutt. A foster dog may take one month or one year to find the right home
All
of our dogs come from somewhere they weren't wanted so the first
job for a foster is to want them and to show them they are
loved. The foster pays for day to day food, arrangements if they go out of town, day to day toys, bedding, etc. Lucky Mutts provides all monthly flea and heartworm preventative, any medication or medical care required and premium food at wholesale prices.
If
you think you might be up for this, hard, grueling but rewarding
service, please fill out our foster

40
dogs die a day at Town Lake Animal Center, their only fault was not
having a home to love them. With your help we can change that number
to zero!
