HOW LUCKY MUTTS CAN HELP PLACE
A DOG
Lucky Mutts is a network of foster homes and like most
rescues and shelters, there are too many dogs that need our help!
Here are the options we would like you to look into:
|
|
If you
are having problems because of a behavioral issue, contact
the Lee Mannix Center for
Canine Behavior for help. They can perform an evaluation
and give you a professional opinion on your best options.
|
|
Contact
the SPCA to be put on their waiting list. The wait is about
6 months and your dog must be evaluated first. This shelter
is for owner surrender dogs only and not for strays. Their
number
is
512-837-7985.

|
|
Contact
a local rescue that specializes in the breed of dog you
need to find a home for. They are listed at www.austinrescue.com
|
|
|
Keep the dog in your home and post him or her on our referral
site. To do this the dog must meet the following requirements:
- Spayed/neutered
- Up to date on all vaccinations
- Heartwom negative and on prevention - or on treatment
You must also do the following to ensure the safety of the
dog:
- Screen potential adopters
- not
for experimentation!!!
- not
for fighting or bait dogs!!!
- etc.
- Ask for an adoption fee
We ask for a $10 donation for this service. You can also
bring your dog to our adoption days (as listed on the home
page). |
|
|
In
addition to posting the dog on our referral page, we can
also post him or her on our foster page pending approval.
This page is for dogs that need placement in
a foster
home. Since this requires us to evaluate the
dog and screen and train new fosters, we ask
for
an additional
$10 donation for this service. We only post dogs on
this page if they are also on the referral page and have
been evaluated by our members. This can easily be
done at one of our adoption days, or at another time of
everyone's convenience.

Do
not take the dog to Town Lake Animal Shelter - "the pound"!!!
They are extremely overcrowded and cannot not help as many
dogs as they would like to and are therefore forced to
put an average of 40 animals to sleep a day!
And please,
don't "threaten" to take dogs to the
pound to get more immediate help. Respect
the life you hold in your hands!

To post a dog,
please send a short bio and as many as three 200x200 pixel pictures
to us. Also include your vet information so we can verify
our requirements for posting and make the appropriate donation through
Paypal.
If you would like the dog evaluated for our foster page, let us
know as well! Thanks!
Spay
or neuter your pet and make a life time commitment to your best friend.
